It isn't every day that an email from a 288-game winner and the namesake of baseball's most famous surgery drops in your inbox. But that's exactly what a few baseball bloggers — the Stew included — got from Tommy John on Tuesday afternoon:
Hey guys, My name is Tommy John, former 26 year pitcher in the Major Leagues. I am writing to you to see if you could alert your fans to my blog at VarsityScoreboards.com. It is ramblings from a demented old baseball player on timely subjects. Not only do I (veer) off the baseball stage, but I will go to subjects like Jim Tressel and OSU.
I am available for Q and A from any and all of you at any time. Just send me your questions and I will give you my answers, which is probably one of the reasons I do not have a job in baseball at the present time. I speak my mind and step on toes!!
Thanks for any help you can be,
TJ
After a quick peek, Mr. John's blog is eminently entertaining, whether he's talking about borrowing bats from Harmon Killebrew, tellings stories of Rocky Colavito fighting a fan in the stands or remembering his mother and her beets. Go check it out.
And ... since he's open to taking questions. Let's send him a few from the Stew. Either tweet them to me or email them to bigleaguestew@yahoo.com and I'll pass them along.
