The White Sox, for their part, blew about 45 prime scoring chances in the final three innings. 6. It never rains in Chicago: Mike Quade argued a rain delay like few managers ever have. But the umpires decided to tarp the field in the top of the seventh, and called the game 41 minutes later, with the Mets leading 7-4. So, they win. 7. Fantasy speculation: The Los Angeles Angels beat the Oakland Athletics 4-1, with Trevor Cahill putting 15 runners on base in six innings. I would sell Cahill, if I owned him in fantasy. 8. God love Brooks Conrad: He's the man when it comes to late-inning bat heroics, as he showed again in Atlanta's 4-2 victory in 11 innings, coming through with a pinch-hit two-run homer. Just keep him away from the glove and everything's cool. 9. Decisions, decisions: Thanks to a 3-1 victory for the San Diego Padres against the Cardinals, right-hander Chris Carpenter's individual to 1-5. That means he has as many victories as Wilson Valdez.
